Lucius Returns with a New Single
Lucius has marked their return with the intriguing new single “Gold Rush” and an announcement regarding their forthcoming album of the same name.
The “Gold Rush” features an upbeat, vintage bass line reminiscent of 70s funk, complemented by sharp guitar riffs as vocalists Holly Lessig and Jess Wolfe sing: “Sugar impulses, honey, it is tall and low / you have something more sweet than liquid gold,” describing the captivating pull of love.
About the Upcoming Album
Discussing the single in a press release, the group expressed: “Golden fever is the sweet essence of love. The highs and lows on the American hill. We can’t get enough of you; we can’t live without you, feeling your return is immense.”
“This track delivers energy and emotion: soaring guitars, a heavy backbeat, and dynamic vocals that shift from soft verses to powerful choruses — perfectly echoing the mood of the lyrics.” You can listen to “Gold Rush” below.

Lucius’ fourth studio album will be released on May 2 via Fantasy Records and is available for pre-order here.
This self-titled album is produced by Dan Molado and signifies a return to their roots, focusing on writing and recording without seeking external influences, marking their first such effort since their debut album, “Songs from the Bromley House,” over a decade ago.
According to the press release, the 11 tracks on this LP will explore personal themes such as relationships, grief, and the complexities of life. Collaborations include contributions from Adam Granduciel of War on Drugs, Taylor Goldsmith, Madison Cunningham, and Ethan Gruska.
Additional contributions come from Luke Temple (electric guitar on “Do Everything for You”), Rob Moose (strings on “At the End of the Day”), and Evan Smith (flute on “At the End of the Day”).

“Lucius” was recorded between Altamira Sound in Los Angeles and Molado’s home studio, and its sound reflects the aftermath of recent devastating forest fires.
Concerning the album, Lucius stated: “Our fourth studio album reflects our journey since we first started recording together. It is raw, honest, and feels like a return home; it resonates deeply with our current lives.”
They elaborated: “We have established roots over the past few years, searching for partners in life, building families, and tending to gardens. We have dogs (you’ll hear them if you listen closely).”
“We wrote songs about the cycles of life and relationships. We recorded them in our home studios, capturing the beauty and fragility of human experience. It feels fitting for this album to share our name, reflecting our story and how we arrived here. Welcome to our living room.”
