Robbie Williams Acquires “A Sort of Uncle.”

Robbie Williams and the Auction

He mentioned that Robbie Williams purchased the iconic glasses and pipes of Eric Morkim.

The auction, featuring unforgettable items and personal memorabilia from the legendary comedian’s life and career, occurred between January 5 and 9, following the passing of his widow Joan at the age of 97 in March of last year.

At that time, Bi-bi-x reported that the renowned Morecambe glasses fetched £20,000, considerably surpassing their estimate of £2,000 to £4,000. Now, Williams announced that he was the highest bidder, acquiring the glasses and a pipe as “ready-made loads with Promo-For-My-Film Prezzie,” following the recent release of his musical biopic Best personField.

In a post on Instagram, Williams disclosed that his friend Mike was designated his “main participant,” as he was in Los Angeles and preparing to board a plane. “How this happens, I have to observe how I acted at the auction. My iPhone and Mike’s iPhone behave like a move-pink,” he wrote.

A Thrilling Auction Battle

The singer went on to recount the intense bidding war that lasted for ten minutes, mentioning that his wife Aida Field insisted he keep betting “with the fierce determination of someone barging through the doors of an electronics store on Black Friday.”

“Honestly, I think we would work with bidding,” he noted. “Our determination is now completely on some primary competitive and irrational stuff – ‘But, dear, we are now experiencing our children’s inheritance…’ Damn it.”

When he emerged victorious from the bidding war, Williams expressed that he was crying “happy children’s tears.”

“I think we all need friends, we are not just from the TV channel. Eric was always mine,” he said. “Uncle. To my essence, Eric Morecambe, I saved myself for my soul. How Eric made me feel is how I want to make people feel. What a gift it is to create such joy and experience this joy, just thinking about them.”

Items and Records from the Auction

Over 800 items were up for auction, including a portrait by artist Richard Stone from 1978, which sold for £15,000, and his fictitious ventriloquist dummies Charlie, which went for £6,200—twice the highest estimate.

Elsewhere, participants snagged a letter from Wise to Morecambe, expressing his desire to end their partnership for £3,200, along with his tails and trousers from The Morecambe and Wise Show for £4,500, and a vintage Town Town FC suit with Eric on the back for £5,500.

In other news concerning Robbie Williams, the singer recently celebrated his 15th album reaching number one with Best person, a milestone that ties him with The Beatles.

Williams now holds the record as the solo artist with the most British albums at number one. With his latest number-one record, he finds himself on par with The Beatles’ record.

The three-star review of Williams’ biographical film, directed by Michael Gracie (The Greatest Showman), depicts the singer as CGI monkey, narrating his life story. NME remarked: “It’s like ‘Rudebox’ in film form: some bits are good, some are quite bad—it’s a little chaotic. Nevertheless, the musical featuring a monkey is a bold move that no one else would dare take. You cannot fault the ambition. If it returns its stated budget, we will be going bananas for $110 million.”
