The band released *Planet Nowhere* in October, marking their first full-length album with the classic lineup since 2008. This fifth studio LP features singles such as “Frightened Nothing”, “Zombie Love”, and “Taylor Swift = US Soft Propaganda.”

Tour details

Johnny Borrell has announced a series of nine shows in the UK, commencing at the Southampton O2 Guildhall on April 26. Following that, they will perform in Sheffield, Birmingham, and Bath before arriving at the London Roundhouse on May 1.

More dates in Norwich, Liverpool, and Nottingham will follow, culminating with a performance at Glasgow’s SWG3 Galvanizers on May 7. Fans can now register for exclusive early access here. Tickets will go on general sale at 9 a.m. on February 14, and you can find your tickets here.

Speaking about the tour, Borrell stated: “I’ve been performing live music for 30 years and have witnessed so many incredible bands. Music has saved my life countless times and continues to do so. Nowadays, I believe that in about 90% of rock music, musicians simply play to a backing track. The upcoming generation of young bands is becoming a norm, and I aim to highlight that musicians playing live without click tracks or backing are at risk of becoming a lost art.”

“When you step away from the digital network, you gain a world of identity, interaction, and creativity. I believe this uniqueness contributes to each band’s distinct sound.”

Complete tour schedule:

April
26 – Southampton, O2 Guildhall
27 – Sheffield, Foundry
29 – Birmingham, O2 Institute
30 – Bath, Forum

May
1 – London, Roundhouse
3 – Norwich, UEA
4 – Liverpool, O2 Academy

This follows a series of six intimate shows that the band performed in October, during which they focused on new material. “We were offered a major tour to play our greatest hits again,” they said regarding the smaller concerts. “However, we communicated that we believe in this album. So we aim to demonstrate that on the road. You know how a band is: we said ‘no’ to a big tour and are performing in six small venues across the UK, featuring songs from the new album along with some classic RZLT tracks.”

Borrell discussed with NME last year about the motivation behind creating a new album, sharing that he had considered disbanding if they were unable to do so.

“I told everyone, ‘If the new music doesn’t resonate, let’s move on.’ I was prepared to ceremoniously say goodbye to Razorlight,” he explained. “That would have been a significant moment. I contemplated various ways to conclude this, some involving Japanese swords. But this album needed to come to fruition.”
