Event Details

This annual celebration returns for its 18th edition on April 12, providing hundreds of exclusive releases on a first-come-first-served basis at over 270 independent record shops across the UK and thousands more worldwide.

Sam Fender has been confirmed as an RSD ambassador in the UK, while Post Malone represents in the States. The comprehensive list of releases features artists such as Beabadoobee, Rachel Chinouriri, Confidence Man, English Teacher, Lil Uzi Vert, Megan Thee Stallion, MJ Lenderman, and Post Malone, alongside legends like Public Image Ltd, Lou Reed, and The Jesus and Mary Chain.

Oasis is prominently featured, preparing for their highly anticipated reunion year with the collection ‘Time Flies… (1994-2009)’ available on vinyl for the first time. This collection includes remastered audio and fresh packaging, with the box set being numbered and consisting of four colored LPs.

“Record shops played a significant role in my upbringing,” stated Noel Gallagher. “They are ingrained in my being. If we can keep record shops thriving for future generations, it’s our responsibility to do so.”

Also announced are ‘Actual Life’ piano live sessions on vinyl for the first time for RSD 2025, as stated by Fred.. Again: “This vinyl series will always have limited pressings of live moments that felt particularly special, and these are some of my favorite pieces we’ve created. We only managed to release the piano lives for ‘AL2’ and ‘AL3’, and many of you requested AL1, so about four years after the original ‘Actual Life’ album came out on Record Store Day in 2021, I recorded the ‘Actual Life 1’ piano live recently with Vinyl Factory to brew something truly special.”

The highlight releases include Taylor Swift’s exclusive 7″ white vinyl of ‘Fortnight,’ Gorillaz’s double red vinyl LP of ‘Demon Days Live From the Apollo Theatre,’ The Cure’s picture disc of ‘Head On The Door,’ Charli XCX’s silver picture disc of ‘Number One Angel,’ Lou Reed’s classic ‘Metal Machine Music’ on double silver LP, The Hives’ ‘Tyrannosaurus Hives’ on gold and white vinyl, and a 12″ edition of demos and live tracks from Air’s seminal ‘Moon Safari.’

RSD comes back after a remarkable 2024, which saw vinyl and physical record sales reach a 20-year high, although “underneath the surface, many UK artists earn significantly lower than average salaries,” as highlighted in the FAC report.

Despite the challenges, a recent report from the Digital Entertainment and Retail Association indicated that the vinyl record market experienced a 10.5% growth last year, with 6.7 million records sold, equating to £196 million in sales. The combination of Record Store Day and the release of Taylor Swift’s ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ led to the highest weekly vinyl sales seen in 30 years back in 2024.

“Every year I’m asked, ‘What is Record Store Day?’” remarked Mark Thorne of Thorne Records in Edinburgh. “I always respond, ‘It’s like Mother’s Day for record shops’— but instead of chocolates and flowers, we indie record retailers receive a line of wonderful customers. It’s provided a significant boost to our sector for nearly two decades, and I hope it continues.”
