Upcoming Album Details
On February 6, the band shared that this track is part of their upcoming debut album, Drive to Goldenhammer, set for release on March 7 through Gravity/Capitol. This recording follows the previously released singles, Radiant Lead, “All My Freaks,” and the upbeat track “Antarctica,” along with the anthem “Pills.” You can preorder and get ahead of the album here.
In Hangman, Felix Mackenzie-Barrow and the band pay homage to the dedicated efforts of social support workers, expressing their appreciation for those who devote their lives to caring for others.
“I already care about you/ I want to raise you,” the lyricist and guitarist sings in this heartfelt track. Check it out below.

Reflections on Experience
The singer revealed that the song came together after he worked as a support employee—an experience that profoundly influenced his career. “I wrote the ‘Executioner’ late at night, freezing in my moldy bedroom after a long shift as a support worker; the job I was doing at that time,” he explained. “The emotional control required was something I hadn’t encountered before, and writing about it allowed my subconscious to flow freely, helping me gain perspective.”
He continued, “I listened to it on my commute back to work the next morning, and upon reflection, I felt accomplished. I worked in that role for about six months, and it was both the most challenging yet rewarding work I’d ever done.”
“The admiration I have for my colleagues and everyone who chooses this line of work is immense. The world of social assistance is often overlooked in a society that prefers to ignore its existence, yet it is vital and deserves far greater attention and investment than it currently receives.”
Overall, the album “Drive to Goldenhammer” was created in collaboration with producer Katherine Marx (Boygenius, Zheleb, Wolf Alice) and delves into themes of transformation, emotional vulnerability, and dark humor, alongside feelings of devastation and elation.
“This album pays tribute to the pursuit of belonging and home; a fundamental aspect of human experience. Much of life feels at odds with this necessity. And Goldenhammer; you are the reason to keep driving forward. We will seek you out again and again!”
In addition to the album release, Divorce will embark on a tour across the UK and Ireland this spring, which includes a stop at Coco in London. Find the remaining tickets here.
