New Video Release by Deep Sea Diver
Deep sea diver has unveiled a new video for “Let Me Go.” This collaboration features the talented Grammy-winning musician Madison Cunningham and is part of their forthcoming Sub Pop debut album “Billboard Heart.”
Inspiration and Collaboration
The visually striking piece, influenced by French new wave aesthetics, showcases Jessica Dobson and Cannin from Deep Sea Diver in Los Angeles, filmed on January 5. The direction was handled by Dobson, alongside Tyler Calberg and Peter Mansen from the deep sea team.
“I have long desired to work with Madison, and I felt like I was in seventh heaven when this song presented itself unexpectedly,” Dobson shares. “We were just starting in the studio when I played the guitar riff I had from high school, and Madison immediately started layering it on my guitar. We had the drum machine that my co-writer Andy Park began to play, and within a few hours, a substantial part of the song was completed.
“From the very beginning, this song felt effortlessly cool; it reminds me of some of my favorite PJ Harvey tracks, filled with grit and power. We filmed a music video in the same spirit, and as two locals who adore our city, we wanted to explore our hometown. Little did we know, it was just two days before the fire in Los Angeles, which later gave the project a poignant meaning as a love letter to the city that we cherish.”
Upcoming Album Release
“Billboard Heart” features eleven tracks, including previous singles “SHOVEL” and the title track, set to release on February 28. The album cover art was captured by photographer Nile.
