The ghost hinted at the identity of his “new” frontman as part of the latest development concerning the singer of the metal group.

Final show announcement

Today (February 5), Black Sabbath revealed its last living show, set to take place in Birmingham on July 5. The group also disclosed the opening acts and special guests, which include Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, Lamb of God, Mastodon, Alice in Chains, Halestorm, recent Grammy winners Gojira, and many more.

Fans with keen eyes noticed that the poster for the final show of the legendary metal group lists “Papa V Perpetua” from the ghost among the special guests. The ghost shared a message on his official Facebook page: “(Message from the clergy), we want to inform you that V will appear ………… In Birmingham July 5.”

Details were scarce. The identity of the new papa was not revealed; however, the message included a photograph featuring a striking black and purple background with the Roman numeral “V” prominently displayed in the center.

Upcoming world tour dates

Since the band’s formation, the Ghost Tobias Forge group has developed an elaborate pseudonym for each album released, introducing a new Papa each time. The newest frontman iteration is derived from the group’s lore and themes focusing on Christian symbols and biblical references, with the latest being “Papa Honored IV.”

Discussing the band’s narrative with NME, Alex Ross Perry, who filmed the group for The ceremony here is now the rite –, remarked: “Ghost as a band is like a planet, and the narrative is like the moon. The moon is not part of the planet, but it orbits it. The songs and meanings are thematically linked to what the ghost is exploring, but they do not create a rock opera about the family dynamics of mothers, sons, and fathers. I think for fans, it’s like getting two dishes instead of one.”

The frontman Tobias Forge added: “I believe the family we discuss is simply a manifestation of a very common phenomenon in humanity’s struggle for existence. The fear of death is a very prevalent idea.”
