Girlpupy Announces New Album
Girlpupy has revealed the release of its second album titled “Sweetness”, which is set to debut on March 28, 2025, through Captured Tracks. The announcement comes alongside the exciting new single “I ARM Do!”.
Exploring Emotional Depths
The latest project from Bekka Harvey, hailing from Atlanta, follows her 2022 work “When I Am Alone” and delves into the aftermath of a four-year relationship. The album showcases Harvey’s vocals blended with rock-inspired instrumentation, featuring contributions from Dimitri Giannopoulos of Horse of Love, Dave Hartley from The War on Drugs, and Tommy Davidson of Beach Fossils.
“I wrote this song after spending six days in Los Angeles with a guy I fell in love with,” Harvey shares. “We’re discussing the realization that you’re investing time and feelings into someone who is completely emotionally unavailable, yet you proceed because it feels right. I crafted the song and then recorded a voice note of me singing it acapella in my bath, which is often a source of inspiration for me. I shared it with Alex (Farrara), who then built the instrumentation around the melody I created. It was so enjoyable to work on, and I can confidently say it will be my go-to track during the tour.”
Creative Vision Behind the Video
The single is accompanied by a music video directed by Wayne, who reflects: “Becca and I designed this video with a vampire theme, portraying a whimsical take on forbidden love laced with campiness. We drew inspiration from the surreal world of David Lynch, the aesthetics of the Pi-VI theater, and the enchanting allure of early 2000s romantic comedies. The narrative unfolds with a vampire hunter crashing a home party bathed in rainbow hues where a vampire’s charm draws him in.”
