Two rappers are collecting funds from BMAC (Black Music Action Coalition), with Flav initially partnering with them to launch a GoFundMe page to assist displaced Black households in Pasadena and Altadena.

“For Black families and communities, it is not enough,” he stated on social media while announcing partnerships. “Come on, everyone. Let’s make LA strong, baby. Let’s help those in need.”

Visiting Affected Families

They recently visited Altadena with BMAC founder Prophet to meet families who lost their homes in the fires that occurred in early January. A video shared on the organization’s social media shows them embracing those impacted by the catastrophe and listening to their stories, including a young boy named Grayson, who informed the rappers that his drum set was destroyed in the fire.

“It was definitely necessary,” says Flav in the video. “It is a great honor for me to be here. My heart goes out to everyone who has lost their homes, pets, businesses, and everything else.”

The Public Enemy then performed at the BMAC Restore & Rebuilding concert on Thursday (January 29), where they emphasized the “fight the power” theme and presented Grayson and his mother with $5,000 for one Diversity Field.
