In a three-star review, Saturday night, Jordan Bassett wrote in NME: “The film lacks enough narrative drive and genuine comedy. However, as it nears its inevitable conclusion, something funny happens. From the chaos, there emerges a rather inspiring ode to spontaneity, saying ‘yes’ and hoping for the best. You can get ‘half an outlet-show on a half-axle,’ as Defoe fabulously puts it, or you can create a story. This is what Saturday night almost manages to do, making it worth a watch. As any impromptu comedian would tell you: stick with it, and you might just find gold.”
