New Album Announcement

Today (January 30), the Mel brothers, Ron and Russell, have released their new single, celebrating their first 2025 release. This track serves as the initial teaser for the upcoming album titled “Mad!”

Set for release at the end of this year, this record will mark the 28th studio album for the duo and will be their first release under their new label, Home Transgressive Records.

The Art-Pop duo’s leading single, “Do Things My Way,” deviates from expectations while still retaining the charming essence that made them famous.

I’m going to run, I’m going to fly/ I’m going to do things in my own way,” they sing in the opening verse, building momentum to the chorus. “Feeling correctly, feeling densely/ I am going to do things my own way/ I received fuel, I violated the rules/ I am going to do things in my own way.

News regarding the new album surfaced as the band hinted at their return, referencing “the girl crying in her latt” on social media earlier this week.

Previously, the group had considered collaborating with director Edgar Wright for a career documentary in 2021. In an interview with NME, Ron mentioned: “Cinema has always been a part of us. The concept of an explosion, of something grandiose, colorful, and dramatic has significantly influenced us.”

In 2022, the band won the award for Best Musical Film at Bandlab NME.

NME, in a four-star review of “The Girl Cries in Her Latt,” described the album as “a reminder that even now the Sparks are fully engaged, having successfully expanded their music into ambitious territories, encouraging others to follow suit.”
