Bruno Mars Achieves Streaming Milestone
Bruno Mars continues to break records, recently becoming the first artist to reach 150 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
This milestone was announced on Monday (January 27), occurring just over two months after Mars surpassed A Weeknd‘s previous record of 120.7 million monthly listeners. With this latest number, Mars’ followers now represent over a quarter of Spotify’s total global user base, which stood at 640 million in Q3 2024.
Continued Success Despite Hiatus
Since claiming the top spot, Mars’ streaming numbers have continued to grow significantly, notably without releasing a new solo album in eight years. His last solo studio LP, 24k Magic, was released in 2016.
The artist, who has received Grammy awards, has achieved impressive streaming success with the following tracks:
- Die with a Smile featuring Lady Gaga, released in August 2024, amassing 1.67 billion streams on Spotify;
- Successful featuring Pink, released in October, which has just surpassed a billion streams on Spotify.
Successful, released under Atlantic Records, became the first K-Pop track to reach No. 1 on the AirPlay’s Pop Billboard chart. Just three days later, it also achieved a new peak at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, while Die with a Smile maintained its dominance at No. 1 for the fourth consecutive week. The collaboration with Lady Gaga is nominated for Song of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 2025 Grammy Awards on February 2.
Mars exhibits streaming dominance across his entire catalog, with 17 songs surpassing one billion streams each, including classics such as Locked Out of Heaven, That’s What I Like, and Just the Way You Are.
Bruno Mars has a long-standing relationship with publisher BMG, although he sold part of his song catalog to Warner Chappell in 2021.
His latest release under Atlantic Records is Thick and Wet featuring Sexy Red, which dropped on Friday (January 24). The music video features appearances by Lady Gaga, BlackPink’s Rosé, and Mars, showcasing dancing and champagne popping.
Just three days after the release of the music video, Thick and Wet has already reached 8.2 million views on YouTube.
