ARCTIC Monkeys Fans Discover What the Star of Their Debut Album is Up to Now

Arctic Monkeys Anniversary Celebration

Fans of Arctic Monkeys, commemorating the 19th anniversary of their debut album “Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not,” are now intrigued by the Caher star.

Chris McClour’s Surprising Revelation

Chris McClour, whose iconic face was featured on the cover of the group’s debut album in 2006, recently found himself at the center of attention due to new footage from Oasis and Reverend & The Makers, with whom he performed alongside Milburn and Arctic Monkeys back in 2004.

As fans celebrated the group’s latest anniversary last week (January 23), dedicated followers stumbled upon the surprising discovery that Chris, who is also John McClure’s brother from Reverend and the Makers, was behind a fake account for a Sunday football league on TikTok.

Through this account, McClour portrays the comedic character of Steve Bracknell, an exaggerated version of an amateur football manager for the fictional team Sunday League Royal Oak FC.

“I just learned that this guy is the manager of the Sunday League TikTok Steve Bracknell, LOL,” one fan tweeted.

Another fan commented on the cover of the album, stating: “Everyone who just discovered that Steve Bracknell is a guy on the AM album should be held accountable for fraud.”

A third follower added: “I can’t believe that @stevebracknall is on the cover of one of the greatest albums of all time.”

McClure recently took to social media to confirm that this character indeed belongs to him, stating: “2024 was the most intense year of my life. Losing my father was the hardest part. Raising a child. Leaving work to manage a business that has exploded nationwide. Meanwhile, I’ve been pretending to be the assistant coach of the Sunday League football club.”

To use the cover of the iconic album, the group paid a friend of McClour £70 for a party in Liverpool and took the photo early one morning at a bar called “Cow.”

“(It was) just me sitting on a stool. They kept giving me whiskey, and eventually pushed me. Everything was a blur,” he recalled earlier.

“I was thrilled, but I don’t think I realized how significant it would become. It wasn’t until the album released in January 2006 that I thought: ‘Damn, what have I gotten myself into?’”

In 2021, while celebrating the 15th anniversary of the album, McClour reflected on the photograph being used for the cover and shared a color image from the original photoshoot.

He added: “What a record. I’ve met incredible people since then… literally because they used my picture. It’s a joy to be associated with this.”

Most recently, John McClure discussed with NME his relationship with Alex Turner. McClour and Turner met back in 2001 on a bus, where McClour invited Turner to join his band. They both went on to be part of Judan Suki alongside Arctic Monkeys’ drummer Matt Helders.

Their breakout hit “I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor” alludes to their friendship with the line: “I dance like a robot from 1984,” referencing the year McClour’s group was formed.
