Dave Mustaine Launches New Wine Brand
MEGADETH frontman Dave Mustaine has launched a new wine brand under the Mustaine Vinn label with his family members.
Combining Music and Winemaking
This venture will merge music, culture, and outstanding winemaking, showcasing how the singer collaborates with his relatives: Pamela Mustaine as president, Electra as vice president and sommelier, and Justis Mustaine.
Based in Nashville, Mustaine’s winery will source grapes from vineyards in Italy, California, and various emerging regions worldwide, employing both “puristic methods” and “modern innovations.”
The company has its roots in a collaboration with a symphony in honor of Diego, which inspired the 2013 Symphony, complemented by the Cabernet Sauvignon. Currently, the family has developed ten small-batch wines, each named after one of the band’s songs.
Celebration Events in Nashville
Two events will be hosted in Nashville to mark the brand launch, with Electra and Pamela curating a reception and tasting menu at the Italian restaurant Yolan, featuring selections from the Marche House of Mustaine collection. On February 22, they will collaborate with Edible Nashville for a “farm to table” experience at the Frist Art Museum.
At the end of December, it was revealed that Megadeth has returned to the studio to work on a new album, their 17th studio record and a follow-up to 2022’s “The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!” Although it seems progress is being made, details on a single track are yet to emerge.
In other news, Mustaine disclosed in November that he had left an emergency surgery because he was offended by a comment made by Metallica’s manager. “I remember we were supposed to play at Yankee Stadium (in New York) with the Big Four concert on the day they discovered I needed neck surgery,” Mustaine shared.
“While lying on the surgical table, my manager told me, ‘Oh, the Metallica manager called you a pussy for opting for neck surgery instead of going out to play.’” Describing the comment as “a brutal thing to say,” Mustaine ultimately got up from the operating table, requested “steroids and stuff,” and went on to perform. “But it turned out great, as far as recovery was concerned,” he remarked.
