Explanation from the Los Angeles District Prosecutor

According to Associated Press, Los Angeles District Prosecutor Nathan Hochman stated that the allegations fall outside the statute of limitations and that sufficient evidence against Manson is lacking.

“We found that accusations related to domestic violence are beyond the limits of the statute of limitations, and we cannot prove the accusations of sexual violence without reasonable doubt,” Hochman stated.

He continued: “We acknowledge and appreciate the bravery and endurance of the women who came forward and shared their experiences, and we thank them for their cooperation and patience throughout this investigation.”

In 2021, Evan Rachel Wood, Manson’s former partner, accused him (real name Brian Warner) of cruelty and manipulation. In 2022, she claimed that Warner “essentially raped” her “on camera” during the filming of his 2007 music video for “Heart-Shaped Glasses (When the Heart Guides the Hand).”

Following Wood’s initial statement, several other women came forward with accusations against the musician, including Game of Thrones actress Esme Bianco, who filed a lawsuit alleging sexual violence, physical assault, and human trafficking.

Warner has categorically denied the allegations, describing them as “horrible distortions of reality.” He filed a counterclaim against Bianco for defamation and emotional distress. Last November, he settled the case, agreeing to pay her $327,000 in legal fees, and reached an out-of-court agreement with her in January 2023.

Last year, Bianco criticized Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon regarding what she termed the “wrong” handling of the rape accusations against Warner.

She expressed that the four years of waiting for the prosecutor’s decision was “absolute agony,” adding that she had to “hound” the district attorney’s office for updates. In October 2024, Gascon announced that the investigation into the musician was still pending in the department responsible for sexual crime investigations.

Manson has yet to comment on the accusations against him. However, Bianco expressed her “deep disappointment,” although she was not surprised by the investigation’s outcome.

“In our toxic culture surrounding victim accusations, the misunderstanding of coercive control, the complexities of sexual violence in intimate relationships, and the statute of limitations do not acknowledge the reality of healing; the judicial system often faces overwhelming hurdles,” Bianco noted on Instagram. “Our justice system has once again let down survivors.”

She emphasized that the fault lies not with the prosecutors or detectives who handled the case but with the “system” that constrained them.
