Aerosmith’s Planned Reunion
Reports indicate that Aerosmith is set to reunite for a limited performance next month – further details below.
Details of the Upcoming Performance
The band announced the abrupt halt of their tour last August after frontman Steven Tyler sustained a significant injury to his vocal cords during a performance in 2023. Their final live gig occurred at the UBS Arena in Elmont, New York, back in September 2023, and neither the band nor the attendees anticipated that it would be their last show.
Now, it appears the band will reconvene for a special performance as part of Tyler’s concert. The Charity evening Jam for Janie is scheduled for early February. The sixth annual event will take place on February 2 at the Hollywood Palladium, coinciding with a Grammy viewing party.
According to Billboard, the band will partake in the event, although details regarding their performance remain confidential. Jam for Janie will also feature acts like Billy Idol, Joan Jett, Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton, Linda Perry, Matt Sorum, and Nuno Bettencourt.
Moreover, Tyler is still under support from Janie’s Fund. This year, the charity event will also focus on fundraising for various organizations dedicated to restoring and extinguishing wildfires in Los Angeles. More than 100 firefighters will participate in the event.
Aerosmith’s participation in the Jam for Janie event follows comments from bassist Tom Hamilton, who recently addressed the group’s future, suggesting they “could do something” if Steven Tyler is inclined.
“Stephen’s recovery process is going very well, but he is progressing at his own pace,” he stated. “Perhaps Aerosmith will embark on something in the future, but this is a significant ‘if,’ and the last thing I want to do is pressure Stephen in that direction. If we do proceed with something in the future, it will originate from him.”
Aerosmith’s last live show was part of their “Peace Out” tour, which commenced in 2023, but the band managed only three performances before canceling the remainder of the dates due to Tyler’s vocal injury.
After announcing the tour’s end, many prominent figures expressed their sadness at the news. Brian May from Queen stated that the announcement “brought tears” to his eyes, while Sammy Hagar shared his long history with the band, referring to their departure as a “huge loss.” Subsequently, it was confirmed that fans would be able to view the last performance of the band on YouTube in 4K.
Hamilton also recounted how the decision to halt the tour was made: “The decision was reached by the collective, which includes the band and our dedicated management … We don’t know what the future holds for us, but it won’t include a tour.”
He further mentioned that he “couldn’t envision” the band continuing with a new vocalist, adding, “I’m confident that we all have music ahead of us, and it will evolve in ways we haven’t anticipated. I perform with good friends in this group. We’ve got several excellent songs, and we hope to release them soon and hold a few concerts.”
