Inspiration Behind the Song
“As an Irish person, I grew up immersed in David Gray’s iconic White Ladder album,” shares Annie-Dog. “My parents played it relentlessly, and ‘Please Forgive Me’ was always a standout for me.
“I initially created ‘Please Forgive Me, David Gray’ on GarageBand purely for my own enjoyment. I didn’t overthink it and honestly didn’t expect to share it. My goal was to connect with the song because it resonated with me, and I wanted to engage with the world of music.
“Before ‘Please Forgive Me, David Gray’, I had never attempted a proper cover, and I haven’t done so since. Typically, I focus on writing my own material, which is what fuels my creativity. However, reinterpreting someone else’s song turned out to be an enjoyable experience. I’ve been performing ‘Please Forgive Me, David Gray’ at my live shows and have received numerous requests to share it online. So here it is—Annie-Dog’s tribute to David Gray.”
