New Album Announcement
DITC is set to release their new album “Never Exhale” through the Republic Of Music/Domino Publishing label, along with a new single titled “Four”.
Details About the Upcoming Single
The release of the track will precede the Brighton band’s second album, which is scheduled for January 24, following their 2022 debut album, The Great Regression.
The new single was crafted during a respite from touring. Vocalist California Frances shares, “It’s one of the few songs we’ve ever written that was completed before we even started playing it. We first recorded it together in a small café in Worcester on our return from a gig up north. There’s a tiny room designed specifically for band rehearsals.”
Francis elaborates: “The lyrics address the commodification of queer culture. Large corporations are constantly trying to win favor by appealing to a broad audience. Whether it’s drag queens advocating for fast fashion or gay CEOs, I perceive these individuals as sellouts. Would Divine ever endorse H&M? Could Alan Turing obtain a high-ranking position in a Silicon Valley tech firm? Would James Baldwin contribute to Pink News? I seriously doubt it. We need to reclaim some dignity. However, perhaps I’m overly cynical. This might suggest that villains can be unexpected figures, not just marginalized groups. This kind of acceptance doesn’t align with my views on what is acceptable.”
Upcoming Tour Dates
The album was recorded at Holy Mountain Studios in London and mixed by Seth Manchester. The band, consisting of Anton Mocock (guitar), Sam Evans (drums), Jack Looker (guitar), and Caleb Remnant (bass), formed in 2015 after Francis, Mocock, and Remnant attended a METZ and Lightning Bolt show at Brighton Concorde 2.
