Garth Hudson’s Passing
Garth Hudson, the co-founder and sole surviving member of The Band, has passed away at the age of 87.
The talented Canadian multi-instrumentalist, renowned for his exceptional skills on the organ and saxophone, died today (January 21) at the Ten Broek Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in upstate New York.
As per the administrator of his estate (according to Guardian), Hudson passed away peacefully in his sleep at the nursing home where he resided. The exact cause of death has not been made public. In a statement issued to Rolling Stone, Ian Haust, a close friend and collaborator, confirmed the news, noting that Hudson “died peacefully” and remarked that “yesterday was a day of music and holding hands.”
