Surprise Appearance at Benefit Concert
Bruce Springsteen made a surprise appearance at the Light Of Day 25th Anniversary Benefit concert over the weekend. Check out the footage below.
The annual music event, which aims to raise funds for Parkinson’s research, took place on Saturday (January 18). Jesse Malin, Willie Nile, and Joe Grushecki were among the performers at the Count Basie Theater in Red Bank, New Jersey, before Springsteen arrived to enchant audiences in his home state.
Special Performances and Collaborations
The concert marked one of Malin’s first performances since he suffered a spinal stroke in 2023, which left him partially paralyzed. He announced Springsteen’s arrival by saying, “We actually met at Light of Day and it was my first time playing these things. We met in the green room. Wherever he is, let’s get him out. Bruce, where are you?” They then performed their 2007 collaboration “Broken Radio.”
This wasn’t The Boss’s only stint at the event—he also joined Willie Nile for “One Guitar” and performed with Joe Grushecki and the Houserockers on “Never Be Enough Time.”
Springsteen continued with several of his classic hits, including “Darkness On The Edge of Town,” “The Promise Land,” “Pink Cadillac,” and the titular song “Light Of Day,” which he penned for Joan Jett and Michael J. Fox for the 1987 film. Check out the footage below.
Upcoming Tour and Film Projects
In other Bruce Springsteen news, he will be extending his global tour with The E Street Band in 2025, including a series of performances in various cities across the UK and Europe throughout July. A full list of dates can be found here and click here to purchase tickets.
Additionally, he was recently spotted filming an upcoming biopic. Deliver Me Out of Nowhere stars Bear actor Jeremy Allen White. The film is set for release in 2025 and will depict the musician’s journey while recording his sixth album, Nebraska, in 1982, showcasing the artist at a vulnerable stage in his life.
The singer himself praised White, stating that he “sings very well” and that the film’s cast is “wonderful.”
