Inauguration Events and Performers

The official swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for Monday (January 20), with several events taking place leading up to the celebration.

It was recently confirmed that Carrie Underwood will perform at the main ceremony, singing “America the Beautiful” on the steps of the US Capitol as Trump becomes the 47th President of the United States.

Now, Vance’s Trump inauguration committee has announced additional high-profile names joining the festivities, which commence on Sunday (Jan. 19). The lineup includes Kid Rock, Billy Ray Cyrus, and the Liberty University Praise Choir, who will perform at the “Make America Great Again” victory rally on Sunday.

The Inauguration Night on Monday will feature three different balls. The Liberty Ball is set to showcase performances from the Village People, Jason Aldean, and a “surprise musical guest.” Gavin DeGraw will perform at the Starlight Ball, while Rascal Flatts and Parker McCollum will take the stage at the Commander-in-Chief’s Ball.

In a recent statement (via Deadline), committee co-chairs Steve Witkoff and Kelly Loeffler described the events as “a celebration of music, unity and patriotism, ushering in a new golden age for America.”

Trump’s 2017 inauguration featured performances from the Rockettes, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, and America’s Got Talent singer Jackie Evancho. Noteworthy musical acts also graced the inaugurations of former President Obama, with Aretha Franklin performing in 2009 and Beyoncé and Kelly Clarkson in 2013.

Earlier this week, the Village People expressed their thoughts on their upcoming performance at Donald Trump’s inauguration. They stated that they accepted the invitation because they believe “music should be performed without regard to politics.” They acknowledged that while the appearance “will not please some,” they hope it “will help unite the country after a turbulent and divided campaign.”

On January 15, Whoopi Goldberg voiced her support for Carrie Underwood’s choice to perform at the event, though she mentioned that she wouldn’t be tuning in.

The actor and talk show host has previously criticized Trump’s policies, even declining to mention his name after the election victory.
