Perfume Genius Announces New Album
Perfume Genius has unveiled his upcoming album 'Glory' and released the lead single 'It's A Mirror'.

Starting with a vibrant folk-rock riff and characterized by the emotionally resonant vocals of Perfume Genius (real name Mike Hadreas), the artist utilizes “It’s A Mirror” to contemplate feelings of being overwhelmed and trapped in a cycle of isolation.
Reflecting on the song in a press release, Hadreas expressed: “I wake up feeling broken even on uneventful days. Throughout the day, I find myself grappling with what I’d rather engage in alone with my thoughts. But is it worth it? Most of those thoughts are negative and have persisted for decades.
“I penned This Mirror while ensnared in one of these isolating loops, recognizing that something different, perhaps even beautiful, existed outside, yet I struggled to escape it. I’ve become adept at keeping that door shut.”
The music video for the song, directed by Cody Critchelo, features Perfume Genius awakening in an expansive bedroom and subsequently riding a motorcycle, which culminates in a crash. He then traverses the highway, where a group of bikers begins to encircle him.
He approaches a billboard emblazoned with the word “fame,” adjacent to a gas station. In a surreal moment, a second version of himself approaches the pump and douses himself in gasoline before gazing into the camera and igniting a match as the screen fades to black.
Produced by longtime collaborator Blake Mills, “Glory” explores “the space between the inside and the outside.” This marks Hadreas' seventh album, following 2022's Ugly Season. “Glory” is set to be released on March 28 via Matador and is now available for pre-order. Here.

Additionally, Perfume Genius has announced a comprehensive North American tour to support the album. Kicking off on May 12 at the Little Saint in Healdsburg, California, Perfume Genius will traverse North America, making stops in cities such as San Francisco, Phoenix, Tucson, Austin, Dallas, Washington, Brooklyn, Boston, Buffalo, Toronto, and Cleveland, concluding the tour at Revolution Hall in Portland on June 27th.
