Debut Album Announcement
Lilo has officially announced their debut album “Blood Ties”, set to be released on Dalliance Recordings on March 28th. In conjunction with this announcement, the duo has unveiled a new single titled “Everything is different in winter.”
Artist Background
The duo, comprised of Christy Gardner and Helen Dixon, previously released two EPs: “Sleep Country” in 2022 and “I Don’t Like My Chances On The Outside” in 2023.
“We can’t believe we’re finally able to release our debut album this year,” the band expresses. “It’s been a long journey, and we feel incredibly fortunate to have created this album together. It captures a range of strong emotions, bouncing between anger, joy, sadness, and everything that lies between.”
Insight Into The New Single
Discussing the new single, Helen shares: “It’s Not The Same In Winter was born from the experience of a breakup. I set off to write something in hopes of transforming my heartache into something beautiful. Unfortunately, the trip turned out poorly; I couldn’t write a thing and felt as though entire sections of my mind were blank. I called Christy to confide in her, saying: it’s odd, I can’t recall anything about my ex. I can’t picture what he looked like, and all my memories feel alien. I even tried looking through old photos to jog my memory, but it felt like I was peering at a stranger.”
The album title encapsulates the duo’s deep friendship, with Helen noting how their creative process unfolds: “We lead intertwined lives, which inspires us to write about each other’s experiences as well as our own.”
