The indie band is set to deliver their first official performance since 2021 at the Just Like Heaven festival in Pasadena, California, later this year, as indicated by a new billboard on Sunset Boulevard.
Upcoming Performance Details
As of now, numerous festival-related news and live music announcements have been delayed due to the ongoing wildfires wreaking havoc throughout Los Angeles. However, some confusion arose when a billboard promoting various artists performing at Just Like Heaven remained displayed.
According to another billboard spotted in Echo Park, Rilo Kiley will take the stage at this event in May, alongside Vampire Weekend, Empire of the Sun, Bloc Party, and the recently reformed TV on the Radio.
This will be their first performance together since a one-time appearance in 2021, when singer Jenny Lewis and lead guitarist Blake Sennett briefly reunited for Linda Perry’s Rock-N-Relief livestream, delivering the song “Let Me Back In,” which is featured on Rilo Kiley’s 2013 compilation album RKives.

Past Hiatus and Future Prospects
The band members had only performed together on one occasion since their hiatus began in 2010, when Sennett accompanied Lewis at Coachella in 2015 to perform “Portions For Foxes”.
Rilo Kili initially went on a break in 2010 but officially confirmed their breakup a year later. During that time, Sennett conveyed to Consequence Of Sound: “I would say that if Rilo Kiley was a person, he would probably be lying on his back in the morgue with a tag on his toe. Now I watch movies where dead people stand up and walk. And when they do, good things rarely happen.”
Although live performances have been scarce since 2011, Rilo Kiley released a rare self-titled debut album in 2020, making it available on streaming platforms for the first time. Originally launched in 1999 under their label, Rilo Records, this album was long-awaited by fans.
In 2019, Lewis expressed her openness to the idea of reuniting the group in an interview with NME, confidently stating, “Certainly!” when asked about the possibility. “I did a Postal Service reunion a couple of years ago, so I’m open to anything now. My mantra is ‘Yes.’”
In 2023, the singer reiterated her sentiments to NME about a Rilo Kili reunion, downplaying immediate expectations with the comment: “I have a lot to do (…) We don’t talk about it, but it’s not out of the question.”
Fans have grown increasingly optimistic about a reunion announcement in recent months, especially following the addition of new merchandise to their Bandcamp page and updates to their profile images across streaming platforms.
As it stands, “Just Like Heaven” is scheduled for May 10th, although this is subject to change depending on the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles.
