Booking Shows at a Young Age

In a recently surfaced TikTok video filmed during a meet-up in early 2024 to promote her beauty brand About-Face, a fan asked Halsey about her past musical preferences, especially within the hardcore genre.

Halsey replied, “I really enjoy hardcore,” and explained that she was booking shows in New Jersey at the age of 16: “I was promoting hardcore shows in Jersey before I started making music. I booked a lot of hardcore, but also saw some more commercial hardcore.”

She continued: “The biggest show I ever booked – at 16 – was August Burns Red and The Devil Wears Prada.” She added with a chuckle, “Like I said, a bit more commercial. My senior yearbook quote was from a Defeater song. You guessed it, I was probably an avid fan.”

Toward the end of the video, just before Halsey ends her interaction with the fan, she thanks him for “asking that question.” She added: “No one ever realizes it, but I love discussing it.”

Her latest album, The Great Impersonator, features a pop-punk rendition of Lonely Is The Muse. The album and track have been highlighted in NME‘s 50 Best Albums of 2024 and 50 Best Songs of 2024 respectively.

In a glowing five-star review of The Great Pretender, Kristen S. He wrote for NME: “Looking back at her recent catalog, ‘Manic’ is more stylistically diverse, ‘If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power’ is more musically ambitious, but ‘The Great Impersonator’ is Halsey’s most honest album, if you choose to believe her.”

In other Halsey-related news, the talented singer-songwriter, who recently ventured into acting with her appearance in MaXXXine, is set to make her writing debut on a dark comedy television series, Bloodlust, for Amazon Prime Video.
