Winona Fighter Draws Inspiration from Y2K in Their Latest Video “RU Famous”

New single release

Winona Fighter shared a new single 'RU Famous'from their debut album “My Apologies To The Chef”.

About the track and its meaning

The Nashville punk trio's new track comes with a Y2K-themed music video and serves as the latest preview of their upcoming album, due out on February 14 via Rise Records.

“RU Famous” is about a man who is always trying to see what can be achieved from people who succeed in their music careers. I think the term is called “star bastard” but I don't think you can say that in the article haha! But we are talking about this seriously,” the vocalist shares, Coco Kinnon. “I think this situation unfortunately happens to a lot of newbies, and what happened to us was through someone we thought was a friend.”

Video insights

Speaking about the video, Kinnon adds: “We've always said, 'If we REALLY start leaning towards the Y2K aesthetic, then you'll know we're just going to get paid.' So what better way to portray a slippery person than to be the one who wants money! We're All Gonna Die did an amazing job bringing our Tony Hawk Pro Skater aesthetic to life. We had so much fun being a couple of Y2K brothers that day, but I'm fine, never wearing low rise pants again…. As always”.

“My Apologies To The Chef” includes previously released singles “Attention”, “Swear To God That I'm (Fine)” and “I'm In The Market To Please No One”.
