Special Guests Revealed for Sesame Street’s 55th Season
A star-studded list of special guests for the show's upcoming 55th season Sesame Street has been revealed – check it out below.
Lineup Announcement and Curriculum Focus
Yesterday (January 9) Sesame Street announced the lineup of guests for the upcoming 55th season, set to premiere on January 16 on HBO Max. This season’s curriculum will emphasize emotional wellbeing, helping children learn accessible strategies for navigating big feelings through enjoyable, relatable stories. A variety of notable music, film, and TV stars, along with athletes, will join the roster.
Featured musicians include SZA, Noah Kahan, Chris Stapleton, and Samara Joy. Additionally, the cast will feature Michael B. Jordan and Renee Rapp, along with Queer Eye’s Jonathan Van Ness and tennis icon Billie Jean King.
The season kicks off on January 16 with Renee Rapp, followed by Michael B. Jordan on January 23 and Samara Joy on February 6. A month later (March 6), Noah Kahan will make an appearance, with SZA scheduled for April 10. Special guests will reappear on July 24 with Chris Stapleton, followed by Jonathan Van Ness on August 21 and Billie Jean King on August 28.
SZA’s Music Journey and Future Plans
SZA’s confirmation to appear on Sesame Street comes after she hinted earlier this month at the potential release of two albums featuring “peaceful children’s music” to meet her current contractual obligations.
The singer and rapper unveiled “Lana” last month after significant speculation about its release. This project is not a standalone album but rather a deluxe version of her 2022 album, SOS.
SZA expressed, “I think to fulfill my requirements for the last two albums, I just want to make peaceful children's music and get out of here. Then become a farmer and donate produce to underserved communities.”
During Christmas, the singer also announced her split from Terrence “Punch” Henderson, her collaborator since 2011. Henderson, who is co-president of Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE), played a significant role in the production of her project, Lana.
