Youth Lagoon Announces February Release for New Album “Rarely Do I Dream”

New Album Announcement

Youth Lagoon has announced the release of his upcoming album “Rarely Do I Dream”, set to drop on Fat Possum on February 21st, accompanied by a brand-new single titled “Speed Freak.”

Inspiration Behind the Album

The project, spearheaded by producer and songwriter Trevor Powers from Idaho, draws inspiration from old home videos discovered in his parents’ basement. “The first tape I played featured my brother Bobby and me at the state fair when I was 4 years old, choking on a corn dog,” Powers reflects. “If anything encapsulates life, it’s that moment.”

Discussing the lead single “Speed Freak,” he elaborates: “This song emerged from my contemplation of embracing the angel of death. We spend our lives trying to escape what we cannot avoid. Our physical form is only temporary, but there is no death—only transformation.”

The album was crafted alongside co-producer and mixer/engineer Rodade McDonald, following Youth Lagoon’s return from an eight-year break with “Heaven Is a Junkyard” in early 2023.
