Original Unleashed Guitarist Fredrik Lindgren Passes Away at 53

Fredrik Lindgren’s Passing

Fredrik Lindgren, the original guitarist of the Swedish death metal band Unleashed, has died at the age of 53.

The announcement of the musician’s death was confirmed by Unleashed themselves in a message published on their official Facebook page. “Warriors!!! “Unfortunately, we have received news that Fredrik Lindgren, lead guitarist for Unleashed from 1989-1995, has passed away,” the post began.

He further wrote: “Fredrik played a huge role in the early history of the group. For this, we are eternally grateful. See you in Valhalla, brother! Johnny and the boys.”

Tributes and Remembrance

Lindgren also played guitar in other bands, including Terra Firma and Harms Way. Terra Firma frontman and Lindgren’s former bandmate Lord Kritus, Christian Lindersson, shared a tribute to the guitarist on his official Facebook page.

“In loving memory of Freddie Eugene 1971-2025. Stunned by the news of your passing, Fredrik, my old friend. It’s difficult to convey emotions in words. I just hope you find the peace you deserve no less,” he wrote. “Not only will I miss you, but many will miss you, I know that. Thank you for being a part of my life and coloring it with your friendship and musicality, embodied in what Terra Firma was. We had a great time and that will never change. All my love.”

Legacy of Unleashed

The guitarist co-founded Unleashed in 1989 and recorded their first four studio records – 1991’s Where No Life Dwells, 1992’s Shadows In The Deep, 1993’s Across The Open Sea, and 1995’s Victory. He can also be heard on the Unleashed live albums “Live In Vienna ’93” and “Eastern Blood – Hail Poland”.

Following his departure from the band, Lindgren joined various other Swedish bands, including Atlantic Tide, Loud Pipes, Celestial Pain, Born Of Fire, Harms Way, and Terra Firma.
