Daron Malakian Reacts to Golden Globes Joke
System Of A Down’s Daron Malakian has responded to Nikki Glaser’s joke about the band during the 2025 Golden Globe Awards.

Glaser’s Introduction and Malakian’s Response
Hosting the ceremony on January 5, Glaser introduced the iconic actress Glenn Close to present the award for Best Motion Picture – Drama. As she spoke about Close’s impressive accolades, Glaser made a humorous remark about the Armenian-American heavy metal band.
“To present our next award, please welcome from Netflix’s Back in Action three-time Golden Globe Award winner, Hollywood icon and former System of a Down drummer Glenn Close,” Glaser quipped.
Malakian, who serves as the guitarist and co-vocalist of System Of A Down, took to his official Instagram account to share a video capturing the moment and playfully acknowledged Glaser’s joke.
“Bet you didn’t know!!!! Bet you didn’t know!!!!! Somewhere between our first drummer and John, Glenn Close was tearing up the shit for us on drums!” read the caption accompanying the post.
