Release Details
The folk rock band will unveil their 16th studio album on April 4 via Sun Records. According to an official press release, “Life, Death And Dennis Hopper” narrates the life story of the late American actor and iconoclast Dennis Hopper through a song cycle that spans both Hopper’s life and the past 75 years of Western pop culture.
The first glimpse of the album will be the lead single “Hopper’s On Top (Genius)”, which is set to debut this Friday (December 10).
The Waterboys frontman Mike Scott commented on the record, stating: “The story of his life was the story of our times. He was at the heart of the youth culture movement in Rebel Without a Cause alongside James Dean and the inception of Pop Art with a young Andy Warhol.
“He was part of the counterculture, hippies, civil rights, and psychedelic scene of the ’60s. During the ’70s and ’80s, he experienced a tumultuous decade, nearly losing his life, returning to the scene, and blossoming as a character actor, featuring in five films a year
