Bruce Springsteen Approves of Jeremy Allen White’s Singing in New Biopic

Springsteen Approves of Jeremy Allen White’s Performance

Bruce Springsteen heard Jeremy Allen White sing in the upcoming biopic Deliver Me Out of Nowhere – and he approves.

About the Film

Directed by Scott Cooper, this film adaptation of the book will be released in 2023. Deliver Me Out of Nowhere will see White portray ’80s-era Springsteen, and the film will chronicle the recording of his 1982 album Nebraska.

When asked earlier this year if he would sing in the film, he replied: Bear. The star said he would “try it.” Well, it looks like his efforts have impressed Springsteen himself, as well as the rest of the cast, which includes Jeremy Strong, Paul Walter Hauser, Odessa Young, and Stephen Graham.

“He sings really well,” Springsteen told Jim Rotolo in a new Sirius XM interview. “This is an amazing group of people. They cast the film very well, so it’s very exciting.”

The boss added: “Jeremy is such an amazing actor that you just fall in love with him. He has my interpretation that I think the fans will deeply recognize, and he just did a great job, so I had a lot of fun being on set when I could get there.”

Back in November, Springsteen visited the set of the upcoming biopic to see White during filming.

The legendary musician and Bear actor were photographed with director Scott Cooper while filming a scene at a car dealership in Bayonne, New Jersey.

White and Springsteen were seen hugging and smiling while also looking at some classic cars, including a Chevrolet Z28 Camaro, which the singer said was the first car he ever bought and may indicate the content of the scene being filmed.

The biopic was first announced in April 2024. Springsteen previously shared his thoughts on White’s casting, stating, “I just had to see him on Bear and I knew he was the guy because he had such an inner life, but at the same time he was a little cheeky.”

The musician’s manager, Jon Landau, also praised White’s casting, exclaiming, “Oh my God, it’s just perfect. The casting is great.”

Last August, White discussed his preparation for the role, saying: “It’s really cool to go down the YouTube rabbit hole and find him at different points in his life and be able to listen to his voice, like his singing voice. That was the deal: just listen to him a lot and watch him a lot. It was a lot of fun getting ready.”
