On December 28, during a bachata group’s performance in their native Dominican Republic, a fan named Miriam Cruz kissed frontman Romeo Santos after being invited on stage.

Video footage captured by fans shows Cruz jumping onto the stage and greeting the band members. When she reaches Santos, she embraces him and kisses him. The audience erupts in applause, and Cruz remains next to the “Obsession” singer while the band performs their 2003 hit “La Guerra.”

Following the viral moment, Cruz took to her social media to reveal that her encounter with the singer at the concert resulted in a decade-long rift with her husband. In a now-deleted post, she stated: “I must admit that this achievement came at a very high price: the end of my 10-year marriage” (according to Consequences of Sound).

She elaborated that he “got caught up in the nerves and emotions without considering how it might impact my family.” Although she experienced “deep sadness,” she fully respects her ex’s choice to divorce.

Cruz expressed that she is “happy” for having “achieved this long-awaited dream that I have envisioned for years,” adding that she is a huge fan of Santos: “For me, this is not just admiration for the artist, but also about appreciating the great man that he is. I’ve admired him for a long time.”
