Former Slipknot Drummer Jay Weinberg is Crafting a Solo Album

Jay Weinberg’s Solo Album Plans

Former Slipknot drummer Jay Weinberg has announced his intention to record a solo album within this year.

Weinberg, who became a member of Slipknot in 2014 and was dismissed from the Iowa metal band in November 2023, took to social media on Dec. 31 to disclose his aspirations for the new year.

Currently drumming for punk legends Suicidal Tendencies, Weinberg expressed his plans to “record more music in the studio” this year. This project will mark his debut as a solo artist, a venture he claims to have been developing for years, and it seems he might also be taking up the guitar.

On Instagram, he wrote: “One of my ambitions for 2025 is to record more music in the studio, starting with my own material that I’ve been writing for quite some time. I’ve been working on some of them since I was 20 years old.

He added: “I haven’t touched those songs since then until recently, feeling inspired to pick up the guitar again and play this thing again. It was a rewarding experience, and I’ll tell you, I’m starting to like where these songs are going. It’s nice to finally be committed to releasing some of this new music next year.”
