SZA Reveals Upcoming ‘New Songs’ Set for Release in January

SZA Announces New Music

SZA has revealed that “new songs” are set to be released in January 2025.

Details About the Release

In a tweet posted this morning (December 30) SZA informed fans that “all updated mixes”—likely tracks from “Lana,” her recent deluxe reissue of “SOS”—along with “new songs” would be “added on January 6th when the label returns from vacation.”

It remains uncertain whether these new songs will be included in “Lana” or released separately.

“It’s a shame they couldn’t do it sooner,” she added. “Just wanted to keep you updated ❤️Thanks everyone for your patience ❤️.”

Last week on Christmas Eve (December 24), SZA had already notified fans that new mixes for “Lana” would be arriving the next day. However, it is still unclear if those updates were made or if they will be available on January 6th as anticipated.

The release of “Lana” faced delays, and SZA mentioned on X on its release day: “Just need a few more hours for the new mixes to be received evenly across all platforms… (mixes are important) love you camp.”

When it finally launched at 20:00 GMT on December 20, it featured an appearance from Kendrick Lamar on the track “30 for 30.” Additionally, Lil Yachty and Benny Blanco contributed to the project.

Lamar’s collaboration follows SZA’s feature on his surprise album “GNX” last month, and both artists have announced a North American tour together for next year.

The album’s other collaborators predominantly include those she previously worked with on “SOS,” such as Michael Uzowuru, ThanksGod4Cody, Rob Bissell, and Carter Lang. You can view the complete tracklist here.

During Christmas, the singer also revealed her split from Terrence “Punch” Henderson, with whom she had collaborated since 2011.

Henderson, co-president of Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE), played a significant role in the production of “Lana” after nearly a year of scrutiny.

When “SOS” was released two years ago, it garnered widespread acclaim and received nine Grammy nominations. The album reached number one on the Billboard 200, grabbed the second position on the UK singles chart, and was certified triple platinum in the US.

In a five-star review, NME characterized “SOS” as a “comeback album worth waiting for,” adding, “For this next album, I’m making the best album of my life,” SZA stated in Flaunt in 2020, noting that “SOS” is a phenomenal record that exceeds expectations. However, this declaration came with a caveat: “Because this will be my last album.” We hope SZA retracts this statement, but if this is indeed the last we hear from her, she is certainly leaving on a high note.”
