Primus drummer search and scams warning
Having previously announced an open competition to find their new drummer, Primus cautioned applicants about potential scammers.
Earlier this year, the band expressed their “utter shock” at the departure of longtime drummer Tim Alexander. They turned to social media to inform fans that they were “accepting applications from all corners of the universe for the position of drummer/percussionist for Primus,” later revealing that they could “find our guy” in Billy Strings.
They provided an email address for applications, requiring a resume and a video of a recent performance. The band emphasized that while “highlights” are appreciated, they were searching for a drummer who “has the ability to listen, respond and contribute to the musical conversation.”
Deadline for applications and warnings on scams
Today (December 22) marks the last day for drummers to apply, and they took to Instagram once more to alert 5,000 applicants about potential scams. Ahead of auditions scheduled for January, they shared that they had been “harassed” by pranksters throughout the process.
