Olivia Rodrigo’s Charitable Contributions
Olivia Rodrigo is preparing to contribute a notable sum of money to various women’s charities globally.
According to Billboard, the “Good 4 U” singer-songwriter revealed that she will be donating a significant portion of the earnings from ticket sales of her “Guts” world tour to vital organizations focusing on women’s issues.
Support for Women’s Rights
The singer has been an outspoken advocate for reproductive rights and launched The Fund 4 Good initiative earlier this year, as part of her Guts World Tour.
The amount will exceed $2 million and will be distributed among ten organizations that support girls’ education, women’s reproductive rights, and the prevention of gender-based violence.
The ten charities include the National Abortion Fund Network in the US, Women’s Shelters in Canada, Women Against Violence Europe, the Prattanadi Foundation in Thailand, the Korean Women’s Fund in South Korea, Harmony House Limited in Hong Kong, Singapore’s Aidha, the Japanese non-profit organization Women’s Saya-Saya, Australia’s Wesnet, and the Philippines’ Jhpiego.
These upcoming donations follow Rodrigo’s first concert in the Philippines in October, where she donated all profits to Jhpiego.
She expressed, “I was able to visit this organization when I was in Manila and was very impressed with the work they do in providing health care to women and girls in the Philippines. It was the most special show and the most meaningful journey. To say I’m grateful doesn’t even cover it! Mahal Kita ❤️”
Continued Advocacy for Reproductive Rights
Throughout her career, Rodrigo has consistently championed reproductive rights. The artist expressed her heartbreak over the 2022 Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.
This year, during the “Bring It Back!” campaign, she made headlines by distributing birth control kits, including condoms, Plan B, and information about abortion access at her concert in Missouri. Notably, this state has banned nearly all abortions since the overturning of Roe v. Wade. These kits were part of a reproductive rights initiative on her tour, where the National Network of Abortion Funds had a booth at every North American show.
Before the last US presidential election, Rodrigo also endorsed then-candidate Kamala Harris for her stance on reproductive rights.
In other news, Rodrigo is set to headline her largest show in the UK next summer at BST Hyde Park. She will perform in London on June 27, joining previously confirmed artists such as Noah Kahan, Jeff Lynne’s ELO, Zac Bryan, and Hugh Jackman.
The Hyde Park concert will feature support from The Last Dinner Party and Girl in Red, with more shows anticipated to be announced soon. Tickets can be purchased here.
