Pavement has revealed that their first new song in 25 years will feature on the soundtrack for the forthcoming documentary PAVEMENTS.

The track, which was recorded during rehearsals for their recent reunion performances, will accompany Alex Ross Perry’s new documentary, currently being showcased at festivals prior to its release on MUBI.

While speaking on Vish Khanna’s Kreative Kontrol podcast, Spiral Staircase (Scott Kanneberg) shared insights about the track, stating, “There will be a new Pavement song on the soundtrack, that’s all I’ll tell you.” He further noted, “I just heard this mix today and it’s pretty good.”

Kanneberg clarified that the track was captured during rehearsals and does not represent a formal studio recording. “It’s not a big deal. It’s just cool because it’s something special and it’s a song that we all really loved playing,” he explained.

A Look Back at Their History

The band’s last release was the EP “Major Leagues” in 1999. Recently, the group performed at the New York Film Festival, which band member Bob Nastanovich indicated was their final performance “in a very long time.”
