LCD Soundsystem Plays “North American Scum” Live After 13-Year Hiatus

Lcd Soundsystem’s Live Performance

LCD Soundsystem performed “North American Scum” live for the first time in 13 years – watch the performance below.

Exciting Concert Moments

Led by James Murphy, the band wrapped up their December Winter Function show in New York last night (December 15). For the last three Winter Event shows, Murphy and co. performed “North American Scum” from their 2007 album Sound Of Silver, marking the first time it had been performed in over a decade.

During their December 12 concert at the Knockdown Center in Queens, LCD Soundsystem surprised fans by performing a long-forgotten fan favorite. It was last played live at the band’s farewell concert at Madison Square Garden in New York City in April 2011.

Upcoming Releases

Winter Function shows will follow the release of “X-Ray Eyes” in November. “X-Ray Eyes” marks the band’s first new material – aside from standalone song “New Body Rhumba” from the 2022 Noah Baumbach film White Noise — since their 2017 comeback album American Dream, which itself ended a seven-year hiatus following 2010’s This Is Happening.

The song will be the lead single from LCD Soundsystem’s upcoming album, which will reportedly be released next year. Along with the release of “X-Ray Eyes,” Murphy shared an update on the upcoming album, saying, “Don’t ask me when it’s going to happen because we’re still working on it. But it’s very nice to release new music.”

It follows on from their stunning sunset performance on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury earlier this year. Five-star NME The set’s review states, “Pyramid’s packed field holds each other tight and reaches for the sky, and the 10-song LCD masterclass naturally ends with ‘All My Friends.’ This song and this moment is the epitome of Glastonbury at its best, memories of the making and the good times yet to come: And if the sun comes up and I still don’t want to go home, then it’s the memory of those who were better that keeps us on our feet. That’s how it starts.”
