Charity concert highlights
Primal Scream featured Paul Weller on “Rocks” during the Brixton Academy Gig For Gaza charity concert last night (December 13).
Weller, the former frontman of The Jam, curated the lineup for this charity event, which raised funds for MAP (Medical Aid for Palestinians) and Gaza Forever. Both organizations offer crucial support, including food, medicine, and temporary housing, to those affected in the Gaza Strip amidst the ongoing humanitarian crisis.
Weller’s memorable performance
At the conclusion of Primal Scream’s 45-minute performance, Weller joined them on stage for “Rocks,” playing the song’s iconic opening riff on guitar.

The following day, the band took to Instagram to express their gratitude to Weller and his wife Hannah for organizing the concert, while also applauding the other artists that performed. The lineup included Kneecap, Paloma Faith, Lowkey, Liam Bailey, and Roisin El Cherif.
“Paul joined us on stage to end the proceedings with a raucous blowtorch version of Rocks – the look on the face of Andrew Innes, who shared the stage with PW, was priceless,” they commented. “Fifteen-year-old Andrew saw The Jam on the In The City tour in the summer of 1977 at the tiny Zhivago club in St Enoch Square, Glasgow, and it was one of the punk shows that year that inspired him to pick up a guitar and form a band. What a fantastic night it was.”
Support for Palestine and upcoming tour
Over the summer, Primal Scream worked on a new T-shirt design for the Palestinian refugee soccer team, inspired by their iconic album “Screamadelica.”
In May, Paul Weller voiced his support for Palestine, stating he was “against genocide and ethnic cleansing.” During his recent concerts, he appeared on stage with a Palestinian flag draped over his guitar amp.
Additionally, Primal Scream has announced a UK and Ireland tour in 2025 to promote their upcoming album, “Come Ahead.” They revealed that British indie musician Baxter Dury will join them in Bristol, Southampton, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester, and Nottingham, with Fat White Family performing as special guests for one London show.
The Mozart Estate will open shows in Bristol, Southampton, Birmingham, Liverpool, and other venues, while Dylan John Thomas will also perform at the final concerts, including in Leeds and Newcastle.
