Celeste Filmed Her Debut Video for Her New Single “This Is Who I Am.”

Celeste’s Directorial Debut

Celeste made her directorial debut with a new video for the single “This is who I am.”

Collaboration and Artistic Vision

The dark, cinematic short film, which premiered on NOWNESS, was filmed in Winchester and showcases a collaboration with the artist Edward Rollitt, choreographer Holly Blakey, and designer Sonya Trefilova.

“The initial thought behind this idea is that there is a sense that we as people are experiencing some kind of suffering, perhaps due to a lack of connections between people in society,” says Celeste. “I have long thought that we quite often feel that women are or should be the bearers of our comfort. But with the way our roles and lives have evolved, we are no longer the one-size-fits-all caregivers who keep society functioning while feeling loved, cared for, and safe in the metaphorical womb. I believe this has led to a certain amount of frustration and violence towards women. I hope that the image of me, although bound, will show the strength that defies the odds.”
