New Track Release
Swim Deep has unveiled a new track titled “It’s hard to come back” and announced two special performances featuring the producer Bill Ryder-Jones.
About The Track
The track serves as a bonus song from their latest album There’s A Big Star Outside, which was produced by Ryder-Jones and released under Submarine Cat Records.
Frontman Austin Williams describes the deeply personal nature of the track: “Hard To Come Back came at a turning point, full of gray clouds and glimmering light. I accompanied a close friend to their first AA meeting. I always said that when they were ready, I would go with them, much like how we prepared before venturing out as teenagers because we were too timid to go alone. At that moment, I had never felt closer or prouder to them. I almost lost my best friend to addiction in my early 20s, and I’m not proud of how I reacted by burying my head in the warm sand. It’s hard to know what to do, but helping to resolve the situation and offering love and unconditional support is just the beginning. This song is the usual naive procession around the truth of this experience.”
Upcoming Shows
Regarding the upcoming shows, Williams shares: “Cribs have Johnny Marr, Oasis have Andy Bell, and we have Bill Ryder-Jones. The creation of ‘Big Star’ marked a high point in Swim Deep’s career, and Bill became a vital part of the group during that process. Celebrating this with a special one-off show would be the pinnacle of this chapter. I found a big brother in Bill at just the right time; we’ve both been through a lot, and after leading this group for 12 years, I was yearning for a mentor, a big brother who could reassure me that everything was okay and restore my battered ego to something manageable. I’m honored to say that Swim Deep will be performing in church with Bill Ryder-Jones on guitar.”
