Upcoming EP Details

This year, the recent NME Cover Star has released the singles “Juliet+Juliet,” “King of Kingston,” and “See What You Are Doing With Me.” Now, she has announced that these tracks are part of her upcoming EP, scheduled for release on May 9 (pre-order here).

The songs will explore the “beautiful, sexual, and dangerous” experience of being a woman, as shared in a press release.

“Last year, I started to feel the growing pains of becoming a woman—shaping my identity and my sexuality while falling in love,” she explains. “This experience is liberating, yet I feel that the world around me is becoming increasingly frightening. This EP captures both love for femininity and its dark realities.”

“I find that being a woman is at once beautiful, sexy, and perilous, so I wanted to create four tracks that not only dance around these themes but dive straight into them. The EP juxtaposes the softness of femininity with the harsh realities I’m gradually coming to terms with.”

In a conversation with NME earlier this year, Ratbag discussed how Brat Charli XCX influenced the development of “Kissing Under (Almost) the Full Moon.” “There’s no point in sugarcoating things; you have to express your true feelings,” she stated. “Brat” was so genuine, and I resonate with authenticity. I don’t want to tiptoe through life. I want to address what most people are afraid to confront or feel guilty about.”

She further expressed her desire for the EP and her live shows to create a refuge for fans amid these turbulent times. “I genuinely hope that for a moment, they can find a little solace in my world. That means a lot to me,” she shared. “The current world is tough, and it’s so comforting to be able to step into something more positive.”
