Special Edition Release Details
The fifth studio album by the duo was originally released in 2005 and will now be available in a 2LP special edition featuring one Red Smoke vinyl and one black and red vinyl. The record was released on June 27 through Third Man Records, and you can pre-order your copy here.
The album was recorded on the stairs of Jack White’s house in Detroit during the early months of 2005, showcasing the group pushing the boundaries of their signature minimal sound by incorporating instruments such as piano, marimba, timpani, mandolin, and bells while reducing reliance on electric guitar riffs.
It features singles like “Blue Orchid,” “My Doorbell,” and “The Denial Twist,” and won a Grammy for Best Alternative Album, selling over 900,000 copies in the United States.

Critical Acclaim and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
In NME, the original review of “Get Behind Me Satan” rated it 8 out of 10, highlighting the disorienting listening experience, as traditional White Stripes tracks were mostly absent, with only “Forever for Her” and the more instinctive pieces featuring marimba. They noted the record’s boldness, suggesting it becomes as alluring as the group’s trademark sound after multiple listens.
The vinyl reprint comes just months after the release of “Get Behind Me Satan XX,” an expanded edition that includes demos, alternate studio takes, and live versions. A complete tracklist for that release can be found here.
In other news, the White Stripes were announced as one of this year’s new inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, alongside Cyndi Lauper, Outkast, Soundgarden, Bad Company, Thom Bell, Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, Nicky Hopkins, Carol Kaye, Lenny Waronker, and Warren Zevon.
Meanwhile, Jack White spoke at the University of Oxford in March, discussing the “simplicity” of White Stripes music and how it helped the group connect with their audience. He also released his solo album “No Name” last year, receiving a four-star review from NME that praised it as an ode to rock and roll mysticism and the joy of music in its most physical and playful form.
