Jordan Fish: An Exceptional Talent Behind the Studio, Reflects on His Journey as a Member of Horizon

The Collaboration with Jordan Fish

The united discussed how the former band introduced the musician Horizon Jordan Fish, who pushes them in the studio, after the musicians reported that they were collaborating on new music last year.

Last year, the British group, consisting of James Bourne, Matt Willis, and Charlie Simpson, revealed that they were working on “experimental” new music with Fish, indicating that it would be a continuation of “The Greatest Hits 2.0” until 2023.

Insights from the Studio

In an interview with Daily Star for their Wired column, Willis discussed Fish’s role in the studio and how he helps steer the direction the group wants to take. As reported by Music, he mentioned that Fish was “switched on” during the recording sessions.

He stated: “Jordan is so in tune with the melody. I love this guy. I have always been a big fan of his. I appreciate bringing him in, but as a writer, he is an extraordinary talent. His presence in the studio was exactly what I was looking for.”

“I think there’s a misconception about Jordan Fish, as if he embodies two different personas. People might see him as Horizon and assume: ‘My God, this will be metal.’ But that couldn’t be further from the truth. He is incredibly attuned to pop music. As a lyricist, he inspires me with: ‘Do it better, do it!’”

In another part of the interview, without specifically mentioning Fish’s influence, Willis expressed that navigating the band’s future was “difficult.” He said: “We really don’t rush it, we don’t have a record label breathing down our necks. We are in a really happy position.”

“It’s challenging because we’re asking: ‘Who the hell will we be in 2025? What are we? What do we want to do?’”

Jordan Fish’s Departure and Future Endeavors

Fish parted ways with Bring Me The Horizon in December 2023 after being a part of the rock group from 2012. He played a significant role in shaping their sound and approach, introducing more electronic elements, particularly in the landmark record of 2013. He also contributed to the group’s 2015 project “That’s The Spirit,” “amo,” and the 2020s “Post Human: Survival Horror.”

Last year, he discussed his work with various artists in an interview with NME, addressing criticism of the “Jordan Fish sound” and the “super-producer” label.

“For my projects, each one has its own unique sound. Perhaps there is a specific production choice that ties things together,” he mentioned.

When speaking about the artists he collaborates with, Fish expressed: “I am typically drawn to artists who want to forge a path different from what came before. I’ve been in rock music for a long time, and many bands sound the same. I seek out those who are willing to experiment and mix things up.”

“I can’t help but do this. I tend to gravitate towards colorful concepts. I am not averse to experimenting with music. I want it to be like sweets. This reflects my style and instinct.”
