Coachella 2025 featured performances by Lady Gaga, Green Day, and Post Malone, in addition to appearances by Charli XCX, Travis Scott, Kneecap, Tyla, Megan Thee Stallion, Sam Fender, Ed Sheeran, and many more.
Among the highlights from Coachella 2025 was a notable confrontation between fans of Charli XCX and Green Day. Tensions flared after Green Day closed the main stage on the festival’s second day, with Charli performing just in front of them. Charli’s attire, branded with the slogan “Miss must be a headliner,” was interpreted by many as a jab at Green Day.
Billy Joe Armstrong of Green Day sported a “brat” cap throughout the weekend, while drummer Tre Cool donned a “real headliner” hat, all in good fun. Charlie later stated that she was “obsessed” with their playful rivalry, and the feud effectively came to an end with this exchange. Charli XCX also announced it was the conclusion of Brat Summer, passing the torch to several other musicians.
In another instance, Kneecap also made headlines. During the first weekend, their performance was interrupted after they voiced their support for free Palestine, bringing the crowd and making politically charged comments about Margaret Thatcher. “It wasn’t our intention,” they later remarked, alluding to Thatcher, stating that the message about the U.S.-backed genocide in Gaza had not been shown on screens.
In the second weekend, the group produced its own live stream, featuring political commentator Hassan Piker broadcasting their set on Twitch. Slogans like “Fuck ISRAEL,” “FREE PALESTINE,” “Israel is committing genocide against the Palestinian people,” and “this is supported by the U.S. government, which arms and funds Israel despite their war crimes,” were displayed on screens during their performance.
During their second set, Mo Chara delivered a short speech to the audience: “The Irish were once persecuted by the British, but we were never bombed from the fucking sky when we had nowhere to go.” He added, “The Palestinians have nowhere to go; this is their fucking home, and they get bombed from the sky,” leading the crowd in chanting “free, free Palestine.”
