Possible Duet Between Madonna and Elton John
Jake Shirs from the sisters of the nogers hinted that a duet between Madonna and Elton John could be on the horizon.
This comes after the musical icons “finally buried the hatchet” following years of enmity, especially after Madonna and John had a brief encounter behind the scenes during his recent performance on Saturday Night Live.
Shirs, who collaborated with John on the Broadway musical Tammy Faye, suggested that John’s recent song for the superstar, “Like a Virgin,” might actually be a duet.
Speaking as Grimshou on Distracted podcast, Shirs noted: “Everything I’m going to say is that Elton’s sleeves are incredible. He has a fantastic sleeve that he can use for projects.”
The Reconciliation of Two Icons
The reconciliation follows a public feud that dates back years, highlighted when John criticized Madonna’s title track for the James Bond film Die Another Day, labeling it “the worst Bond melody.” He further accused her of “lip-syncing” during her 2007 live performances, reigniting tensions from Madonna’s 2012 Super Bowl show when he referred to her as “GIP-Synch Good.”
In the same year, John called her “stripper fair” and claimed her career was over, also criticizing her for her song “Born This Way,” referring to it as “this path was born.” Interestingly, that same year, Madonna won a Golden Globe for Best Original Song, where she remarked in her acceptance speech: “(John) is brilliant, and I adore him… I am not so bad.”
Expressing relief over their newfound friendship, Madonna shared on Instagram: “Over the decades, it hurts me to know that someone I admired shared so much hostility towards me publicly as an artist. I didn’t understand it. I learned that Elton John was a musical guest on SNL, so I decided to go.”
“I had to go backstage and confront him. When I met him, the first thing he said was, ‘Forgive me,’ and the wall between us fell.” She shared that within minutes, they were hugging. “Then he told me he wrote a song for me and wanted to collaborate. It was a full-circle moment!”
John responded gratefully: “Thank you for coming to me on SNL. And thank you for forgiving me for my big mouth. I am not proud of what I said.” He praised Madonna for her influential work as an artist, noting her contributions to the fight against HIV/AIDS in the 80s.
John expressed: “I am grateful we can move forward. In the face of all the differences in our world at the moment, I hope we can do great things for those who truly need support. And it’s always fun to do it together.”
In other news, John has teamed up with Brandi Carlile to address funding cuts to HIV/AIDS initiatives by the Trump administration. The duo recently released their collaborative album “Whoever Believes in Angels” and is now working on a joint venture between the Elton John AIDS Foundation and Carlile’s Gote Out Foundation.
As for Madonna, the pop icon recently announced a reissue of her classic 1994 album, Bedtime Stories, and has publicly opposed Donald Trump, referring to herself as the “queen.”
