Lady Gaga Experiences Microphone Malfunction at Coachella: “Now You Know I Sing Live”

Lady Gaga’s Memorable Coachella Performance

Lady Gaga encountered some technical difficulties during her performance at Coachella 2025’s second weekend, but she turned the mishap into a lighthearted moment with fans about singing live.

Last week, Gaga made a triumphant return to the California festival, joining a lineup that featured artists like Post Malone, Travis Scott, Missy Elliott, Charlie XCX, Megan Thee Stallion, and many others. Her vibrant performance marked her first appearance since debuting at the event in 2017.

Classic Hits and Audience Engagement

During her initial set, Gaga delighted fans by performing several of her classic hits, including “Judas,” “Alejandro,” “Paparazzi,” and “Born This Way.” The audience affectionately dubbed the event “Gagachella” as social media buzzed with praise for her remarkable performances. One user on X/Twitter exclaimed, “I have no words. All I can say is that this set by Lady Gaga could be the greatest set in Coachella history.”

However, the night of April 18 didn’t go as smoothly. After she kicked off her second song, “Abracadabra,” fans quickly noticed that her head microphone began to malfunction, producing cuts throughout the performance.

Gaga adeptly transitioned to a handheld microphone while maintaining her choreography, even at one point cheekily holding both microphones. She later emerged with a new head microphone and continued her set without any further issues.

While seated at the piano, she addressed the festival-goers: “Sorry, my microphone was broken for a second. At least you know I sing live,” adding, “I think all we can do is our best, and I’m giving you everything possible tonight.”

Gaga’s appearance at Coachella follows a significant year for the pop star, coinciding with the release of her latest album, “MayHem,” which has remained in the top four of the best vinyl albums in 2025.

In a four-star review, NME stated: “There is a carefree confidence in how Gaga adheres to her maximalist vision without compromising on contemporary pop. Most tracks on this album stretch close to or beyond four minutes, creating mini-epics in the TikTok era.”

“Ultimately, ‘MayHem’ presents as a quintessential Gaga album filled with fun. It’s like reuniting with an old friend, even when the conversation feels nonsensical. Seventeen years after her breakthrough with ‘Just Dance,’ Lady Gaga continues to be an influential force of creativity.”

The familiar sounds of Gaga’s performance came after she hinted at her resurgence in the music industry, assuring fans that this is only the beginning. Back in March, she remarked, “Even though the world may see a woman in her late 30s as an aging star—what nonsense—I promise that you’re only seeing me warm up.”

In the meantime, she recently addressed the meme surrounding “Harlequin” being excluded from her Coachella setlist, stating that it remains “one of my proudest achievements.”
