Disappointment Over Kendrick Lamar’s Selection

Following the announcement that several prominent rappers, including Nicki Minaj and Birdman, would perform during the 2025 halftime show, Wayne suggested that he should have performed instead of Kendrick Lamar, who ultimately secured the spot.

In an interview with Katya Stone, Wayne stated that he believes the NFL has “deteriorated.” He mentioned, “To speak, this is a bunch of things that they will tell you to do, and not to do, kiss, and not kiss.”

He continued, “If you noticed, I was part of things that I have never been to, like (Michael) Rubin’s completely white parties. I do stuff with Tom Brady. It was all for this. You have never seen me in their types.”

However, when Wayne was sidelined in favor of Lamar, he claimed that the NFL apologized, saying the league “did not respond” adequately about the halftime performances: “Suddenly, according to them, they became curved. So, I just have to agree with what they say.”

Consequently, the rapper told Katya Stone that he did not watch Kendrick Lamar’s performance, stating, “Every time I looked, it made me want to go inside and see what was happening.” He also remarked that after this incident, he would never perform during a halftime show again if given the opportunity: “They stole this feeling. I don’t want to do this. It was perfect.”

Addressing the Snub and Future Collaboration

When the announcement came that Lamar would be performing instead of him, Wayne initially felt snubbed, admitting that this caused him “a lot of pain.” He took responsibility for not being mentally prepared for the disappointment, acknowledging, “I accused myself of not being prepared mentally for disappointment, which automatically put me in this position, as someone told me that this is my position.”

Lamar continued to reference Wayne when he suddenly dropped his new GNX album in November last year, stating: “Previously, to hit Carter III, I held my network Rolly Gordia / Irony, I think that my hard work was failed by Lil Wayne.”

Wayne responded on social media, saying, “Man, when I do?! I will just be chillin’ and still a coma 4 of my head. Let’s not take kindness for weakness. Let it be a gigantic dream. I beg everyone. No one wants destruction, even I, but I will destroy if I’m bothered. Love.”

Nonetheless, Wayne ultimately noted that he and Lamar spoke on the phone, adding, “I spoke to him, and I wish him only the best, and I told him that it was better for him to kill it. He must kill it.”
