Toby Gad to Release New Summer Song “Donna”

New Release from Toby Gad

The songwriter Toby Gad is set to unveil a posthumous track by Donna Summer at the end of this year.

The musician has spent many years as a lyricist and producer for notable hits by Beyoncé, Fergie, Madonna, and others. Recently, he released a new album, which offers a fresh take on one of the biggest hits in his career.

Under the title “The Diaries of the Piano – Hits,” the album features performances from Aloe Blacc, Keke Palmer, Victoria Justice, Camila Cabello, and more. In an interview with Bang Showbiz, Gad mentioned that another release is on the horizon.

This upcoming song, he shared, is one he worked on with Donna Summer shortly before her passing in 2012, and it has not been released until now.

“Going forward, I will be releasing new singles with a similar sound signature. One song I co-wrote with Donna Summer before she passed, and I am excited to share it,” he said to The Outlet.

“This isn’t just a project I’m working on; it’s something I’m very proud of that will be coming out in a couple of months.”

Gad recalled their time together while working on Summer’s final album, *Crayons* (2008), stating: “We shared many beautiful moments at her beach house. I contributed three songs to her last album.”

“She was such an iconic figure, and I am extremely proud that this song will be released soon.”

Kanye West’s Legal Issues

In related news about Donna Summer, it has been reported that Kanye West and the estate of the late singer have reached a settlement regarding the alleged “unauthorized” use of “I Feel Love” on West’s album *Vultures 1*.

The copyright infringement claim was filed against both West and Ty Dolla $ign by Summer’s husband, Bruce Sudano, asserting that the rappers did not obtain permission to sample the 1977 disco track on their collaborative album.

This is not the only legal claim that surfaced following the release of *Vultures 1*. In December, West used a sample from the Backstreet Boys in a track titled “All,” but it was reported that the sample was not cleared, and the song was ultimately not included in the album.

Additionally, Ozzy Osbourne criticized West for allegedly using an unauthorized snippet from his song “Iron Man” on the track “Carnival.” Osbourne labeled West as “anti-Semitic” and remarked that engaging in dialogue with him was not desirable.

The contentious sample was later removed and replaced with a portion of West’s legally cleared song “Hell of Life,” which samples “Iron Man.”

As for Gad, he revealed last year how Madonna reacted when he candidly told her “Fuck You” during a session for the *Rebel Heart* album.
